First Act are the uber cheap strings. Anything worse would be a
Caffine
brand that comes packed with a blank label that reads ''Geetar Strings''

There are plenty, plenty string brands available so you can experiment &

see what you like. What I use (GHS Boomers .011s) might not work for you.

For a light gauge, .009s are the way to go. Brand-wise, you can run the
gammut from Dean Markley to Ernie Ball to, yep, GHS.

Pick & try. Worse case scenario you don't like a brand. So you move on to
another. WIth luck, ur local music shop will sell 'em on the cheap for
about $5-$6. Chain stores like Guitar Center will add another $1- $2 &
tax!

Many string brands await you; you will have to decide which of them all
are best for you.

Do you even have a TUNER? Usually, people who use FIRST ACT

crap don't even have a TUNER and know so little about guitars that they

BUY A REAL GUITAR and BUY A TUNER and then use some decent strings like
D'Addario or ELIXER. both of which you can buy at a MUSIC STRORE instead
of going to WALMART.

I will give you a short & simple.Go with Ernie Ball, Dean
cookie crisp
Markley, or DR Strings. They all cost between $5 & $10 so they won't

break ur wallet & they've all lasted me longer than the expensive ''Elixir

Ernie Ball ''Slinky'' strings are noteworthy as many famous & popular
artists use them, not only because of endorsements, but because they are
good strings.

Also are you sure you're restringing right? I've known people to have
problems with string breakage due to improper stringing.
Where are the strings breaking at? By the Bridge or the Nut?

If you want strings that won't tarnish get Elixirs or Dean
Squisshie
Markly Alchemy they have a micro-coating of some polymer that prevents

oxidization. If you want strings that will never break, Martin marquis .14

Shrek , Thursday, 12th of August 2010 08:08:29 PM

I am a music major- First act is a horrible brand for any

instrument. Their flutes tarnish & the metal (not even nickel) is so cheap

it breaks off. Their clarinets which are supposed to have metal/nickel keys

Usually the higher price strings are, the longer they last- period! There
are plenty of guitar shops out there. They dont sell the garbage that
retail stores do. GO in & talk to the employees. Strings, reeds & so on
are often personal preference. It goes by what ur fingers want to feel.
Try numerous out. people just dont understand that when you buy crappy
stuff you replace it more & more often costing you more in the long run.
